Why do you remove the side shoots? Woudlnt’ the side shoots also produce tomatos? So you’d get more if you left them? This is my frist year growing anything, but it seems with chillis you get more if you make you plant as bushy as you can. Different with tomatos? Why? Thanks and sorry for my beginner quesiton.
If you really interested in gardening, you need to read some books about gardening to learn some of technical terms in gardening.
if you like, send your email address to me I will share some of my gardening books which are in pdf format.
You say tomato, I say tomato.

A tomato plant should grow on one long, thick, main stem. From that stem, side shoots with leaves will appear and later produce flowers which eventually turn into tomatoes. A ‘sucker’ is a shoot growing at the joint between the main stem and this side shoot. If you don’t remove it, it will zap too much energy from the plant giving you less plump tomatoes. There are other videos that show this close up so you won’t be confused. Hope this helps.
i need hand on experience to know what shoot and off shoot I’m -uckin with……everyone makes it so easy to understand these people with british (on top of it all ) accents……I’m sorry if i sound a bit confused, but this is the difference between a good teacher and an ordainary teacher……..thank you
What ALways BAFFLES me is what green shoot you”re choosing!! I’m lost like Alice in Wonderland….Perhaps I need some good LSD to find those branches/shoots you speak of……
WHY are you doing these things? What are the benefits?
wow that’s a lot of buds you got there.
Good video, but you’re not telling us why you’re removing the branches.
Thank you, very helpful tips and information.
