Question by raisinette: Cats ate a piece of tomato, help!?
Ok my cats are about six months old and I JUST caught them eating a tiny tomato peel (about the size of my thumb) and I think there were three on the counter because i peeled off a couple small pieces, will they be ok?!
I know they put carrots in the cat food… but tomatoes are toxic to cats..
Oh, just added note- it was a roma tomato.

You are so excited when you make this food…. it’s really wonderful to see
someone so excited about food. Also, a way I prepare lentils (lentil soup?)
is to cook the all spices separately at first in another pan, then add them
to already cooked lentils.

please don’t worry Iwould only sorta worry if the ate a whole big tomato cause of extra acid but a bit of a peel thier fine don’t worry just in the future keep food out of reach

I think they’ll be okay. Just be careful in the near future. But if you are still unsatisfied, you can consult a Vet.
don’t worry, if she’s okay now then she probably will be okay. what you should do is obviously call your vet and ask what to do. i know they say tomatoes can kill cats, but they also say chocolate can kill dogs and my friends dog once ate a chocolate bar and was fine. i don’t think it’s a black and white thing. so, just call your vet.
I was unaware that cats were not supposed to have tomatoes. I’m sorry I can’t answer your question but am glad I could learn from it. I searched tomatoes poisonous to cats and came across this Iams ad, which clearly shows tomatoes as what is supposedly in their food, and lists dried tomatoes as an ingredient! That seems pretty crazy to me, I saw many websites stating tomatoes were bad for cats in my search. I hope your kitties will be ok!
