Rose Quartz Multiflora – Measuring the sweetness of a tomato

We`ve been noticing a very, very sweet cherry tomato on one of our “Rose Quartz multiflora” variety this year. Can our human taste to sweetness be confirmed …

Question by lasandra: What goes well with indoor grilled chicken breast?
Im making tomato, basil, and garlic marinated indoor grilled skinless chicken breast. Id like to serve it alongside some brown rice. What should I serve it with? A sauce? I have some zucchini and eggplants also. I Also have a frozen bag of mixed veggies. Thank you.

  1. Yepp, all the ones I tested on this video was sown from seeds. There are
differences in sweetness from plant to plant. The first Rose Quartz i got
from the nursery, and still have, measures around 8 Brix. I try to save
seeds each year from the tomato plants which have the sweetest tasting
tomatoes. I wonder if next years tomatoes will exceed the magic line of 10
Brix. :) Thanks for nice feedback on post. Regards, Halvor.

  2. Did you plant all the plants from seed? And you did take cuttings from the
the sweet one. Have tested your on store bought ones of the same variety?
    Good post.Dave.

  3. I grow both types here. The tart cherries do very vell, and hasn`t had any
pests or diseases. Anyhow, -the sweet cherries are in some summers attacked
really badly by black cherry aphids. For young trees, this has resulted in
    som losses here. Regards, Halvor.

  4. Thanks, Elyse. Yes, our taste buds are fantastic tools. I let as many
persons as possible taste my tomatoes, just to get an evaluation about
their perception of the sweetness and umami. Adults, children, women, men,
-we all have different taste, so it was very interesting to see that all
agreed about the sweetness of this particular tomato. The only sour fruit I
like, is Tart cherry (Prunus cerasus ). They`re good thirst quenchers in
the summer heat. Anyhow, I need the sweet cherries as well. :)

  5. That was very interesting! I want to buy a cherry tree, maybe next year,
and I was looking up the ones with the highest Brix degree, since here most
cherries are very sour. I think it’s a good tool and we can rely on it for
choosing our best fruits, but our taste buds are great tools also 😉 Take
    care, Elyse.

  6. ok you may need some squash if you chose this but but some bacon in to some really tiny strips and cook it for its grease dont not but=rn it because u will incorporate it bacc in your dish cut up your zucchini and squash into the circular from its comes in and cook it throughly if you would lyke you can take the water out of it by cutting putting a paper towel in a bowl and add a little salt any way add the veggies to your bacon grease and cook it till it becomes somewhat of a mash add your bacon bacc in cover it on low and cook for 5 or you can turn into eggplant and zucchini skewers with cherry tomato or turn it into a veggie pesto which is zucchinin eggplant rosemary time olive oil (pine nuts optional) salt pepper orrrrr you can add a pasta angelhair if found make a lemon garlic sauce roast your veggies cut your chicken in strips leaving it whole leaves room for sloppy presentation the better food looks the more ppl want to eat it but if its just uu leave it whole if ud please cut your veggies up add it to ur sauce plate the pasta laddle the sauce over pasta and add the sliced chicken if u want a thicked sauce add cornstarch or flour or cream if u add cornstarch or flour add this b4 UR VEGGIES OR IT WILL CLING TO THEM AND YOU WILL HAVE PRETTY GRILLED SAUCE COVERED VEGGIES WITH CORNSTARCH OR FLOUR BITS STUCK IN.
