Question by Brett Wilson: Is it ok to use normal tomatoes instead of cherry tomatoes?
I need about 5 cherry tomatoes for a recipe so can i use 1 normal tomato instead?

One half of a normal tomato should equal about 5 cherry tomatoes. OK to use as a tomato is a tomato.

It’s OK, but there are good reasons to use cherry tomatoes if you have them. Vine-ripened cherry tomatoes are sweeter than normal tomatoes. Also, if you use them whole, they don’t leak juice all over the place like regular tomatoes — this could be important if presentation is really important to you.
OTOH, real tomatoes can taste more tomatoe-y (depending on the brand), and if you get rid of the seeds and pulp, they don’t leak juice all that much.
