Question by catsangel777: I recently got a tomato stain from soup on my work shirt and have tried a few things,?
it was a tomato based soup and I dripped some on my white shirt with black parts that cannot be bleached. I tried a drop of bleach on the spot but it thinned the shirt. I tried baking soda, toothpaste, and vinegar. What else can I do?

You should have turned the shirt inside out
And held the stain under cold running water
Then apply neat washing liquid to the stain
Leave for 5 minutes to react on the stain and wash as normal

It’s possible you’ve ruined the shirt with Clorox and abrasives (like baking soda and toothpaste). If you can live with the thin spot, you can remove the tomato stain, but the thin spot itself is permanent.
Apply hydrogen peroxide to the stain. Allow the peroxide to dry overnight and re-apply peroxide until the stain is gone. (This could take many applications.) Make sure you allow the peroxide to sit overnight before re-applying more.
After the stain is gone, launder the shirt as usual. It’s important that you launder the shirt once the stain is gone because dried peroxide can irritate the skin.
You can buy hydrogen peroxide at almost any drug store. It’s in the first aid section and usually costs less than $ 2 a bottle….and you can buy it at Dollar General for less than $ 1.
