I need to bring some type of salad to work tomorrow for a potluck and I need some ideas. I do not like vinegar pasta type salads as well as fruity fluff type salads.

Buy a bag of spinach leaves – coat them in light olive oil. Sprinkle with Kraft parm cheese and mix. Sprinkle garlic powder, salt, papper and basil, mix. Take a handful of macadamians or pine nuts and sprinkle over the top. Garnish with mandarin oranges also srinkles over the surface.

This salad is a hit every time!

    1 head broccoli
    6 to 8 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
    1/2 cup chopped red onion
    1/2 cup raisins, optional
    8 ounces sharp Cheddar, cut into very small chunks
    1 cup mayonnaise
    2 tablespoons white vinegar
    1/4 cup sugar
    1/2 cup halved cherry tomatoes
    Salt and freshly ground black pepper

    Trim off the large leaves from the broccoli stem. Remove the tough stalk at the end and wash broccoli head thoroughly. Cut the head into flowerets and the stem into bite-size pieces. Place in a large bowl. Add the crumbled bacon, onion, raisins if using, and cheese. In a small bowl, combine the remaining ingredients, stirring well. Add to broccoli mixture and toss gently.

  2. The easiest one I’ve ever made is marinated veggies. You can use any kinds, I use cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, celery, radishes and cucumbers and marinate them over night in Italian dressing. Delicious!

  3. You could make a bean salad or a pea salad

    ENGLISH PEA SALAD

    2 cans English peas
    1 sm. onion
    1/2 bell pepper
    Mayonnaise
    1/2 lb. Velveeta
    2 ribs celery
    salt and pepper to taste

    Chop onion and celery. Cube Velveeta. Mix together with enough mayonnaise to make salad creamy. Chill and serve.

    Or a prettier dish that also delicious

    HEAVENLY SEVEN-LAYER SALAD

    6 cups shredded lettuce
    2 cups chopped tomatoes
    2 cups mushrooms, sliced
    10 ounces frozen peas, thawed and drained
    4 ounces cheddar cheese, shredded
    1 cup red onion, sliced into rings
    2 cups Miracle Whip Salad Dressing
    2 slices bacon, optional

    Layer lettuce, tomatoes, mushrooms, peas, cheese and onions in 2-quart serving bowl. Spread dressing over onions, sealing to edge of bowl; cover. Refrigerate several hours or overnight. Garnish with crisply cooked bacon slices, crumbled, and additional cheddar cheese, if desired.

  4. Here is my Pasta Salad I make every holidayand BBQ: This is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good!!!

    1 pag spiral pasta
    1 cup miracle whip
    1/2 can sweetened condensed milk
    2 carrots; shredded
    1 small green pepper; diced
    1 small onion; diced

    Cook pasta; drain and rinse under cold water. All the rest of the ingredients. Add salt and pepper if desired. Chill for a couple of hours and serve. Before serving; taste it. If it has dried out a little add a little more sweet milk and miracle whip.

    Another good non-pasta or salad would be Fruit Salsa with Cinnamon Chips; NO FLUFF, lololol

    INGREDIENTS
    2 kiwis, peeled and diced
    2 Golden Delicious apples – peeled, cored and diced
    8 ounces raspberries
    1 pound strawberries
    2 tablespoons white sugar
    1 tablespoon brown sugar
    3 tablespoons fruit preserves, any flavor

    10 (10 inch) flour tortillas
    butter flavored cooking spray
    2 cups cinnamon sugar

    DIRECTIONS
    In a large bowl, thoroughly mix kiwis, Golden Delicious apples, raspberries, strawberries, white sugar, brown sugar and fruit preserves. Cover and chill in the refrigerator at least 15 minutes.
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
    Coat one side of each flour tortilla with butter flavored cooking spray. Cut into wedges and arrange in a single layer on a large baking sheet. Sprinkle wedges with desired amount of cinnamon sugar. Spray again with cooking spray.
    Bake in the preheated oven 8 to 10 minutes. Repeat with any remaining tortilla wedges. Allow to cool approximately 15 minutes. Serve with chilled fruit mixture.

    STRAWBERRY SPINACH SALAD: although this has vinegar, it doesnt really taste like it, so DELISH!!!

    INGREDIENTS
    2 tablespoons sesame seeds
    1 tablespoon poppy seeds
    1/2 cup white sugar
    1/2 cup olive oil
    1/4 cup distilled white vinegar
    1/4 teaspoon paprika
    1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
    1 tablespoon minced onion
    10 ounces fresh spinach – rinsed, dried and torn into bite-size pieces
    1 quart strawberries – cleaned, hulled and sliced
    1/4 cup almonds, blanched and slivered

    DIRECTIONS
    In a medium bowl, whisk together the sesame seeds, poppy seeds, sugar, olive oil, vinegar, paprika, Worcestershire sauce and onion. Cover, and chill for one hour.
    In a large bowl, combine the spinach, strawberries and almonds. Pour dressing over salad, and toss. Refrigerate 10 to 15 minutes before serving.

    INGREDIENTS
    8 slices bacon
    2 heads fresh broccoli, chopped
    1 1/2 cups sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded
    1/2 large red onion, chopped
    1/4 cup red wine vinegar
    1/8 cup white sugar
    2 teaspoons ground black pepper
    1 teaspoon salt
    2/3 cup mayonnaise
    1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

    DIRECTIONS
    Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium high heat until evenly brown. Drain, and crumble.
    In a large bowl, combine broccoli, cheese, bacon and onion.
    Prepare the dressing in a small bowl by whisking together the red wine vinegar, sugar, pepper, salt, mayonnaise and lemon juice. Combine dressing with salad. Cover, and refrigerate until ready to serve.

    INGREDIENTS
    1 tablespoon butter
    3/4 cup almonds, blanched and slivered
    1 can mandarin orange slices
    1 pound spinach, rinsed and torn into bite-size pieces
    1 cup dried cranberries
    2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
    1 tablespoon poppy seeds
    1/2 cup white sugar
    2 teaspoons minced onion
    1/4 teaspoon paprika
    1/4 cup white wine vinegar
    1/4 cup cider vinegar
    1/2 cup vegetable oil

    DIRECTIONS
    In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Cook and stir almonds in butter until lightly toasted. Remove from heat, and let cool.

    In a large bowl, combine the spinach with the toasted almonds, cranberries and mandarin orange slices.

    In a medium bowl, whisk together the sesame seeds, poppy seeds, sugar, onion, paprika, white wine vinegar, cider vinegar, and vegetable oil. Toss with spinach just before serving. Sprinkle feta cheese on top.

    1 8oz pkg cream cheese
    2 pints whipping cream
    1 bag marshmellows
    1 can chunk pineapple
    1 can darksweet cherries in heavy syrup

    beat cream cheese slowly adding the juice from the canned cherries. use only half the can of juice then drain the cherries and pineapple when the cream cheese and cherry juice are fluffy add the drained fruit, and marshmellows. set aside, beat whipping cream till stiff then fold in the cream cheese fruit mix, cover and refridgerate overnite

  8. I had the best salad ever the other day… from a place called Jimmys… its all New Orleans style food…

    it was romain lettuce
    venna cheese
    cinnamon almonds
    diced pinapple
    diced manderin Oranges
    strawberry slices
    and grilled chicken strips

    there are different dressing you put on it… but i love the garlic one… rasberry vinigerette is good!
