Question by Snow White: When is the best month to plant tomatoes?
I live in Northern California and to avoid any plant damage due to cold weather, what is the best and safest time to ;plant my tomatoes and what is the best chemical spray to prevent tomatoe worms.

Well according to my father-in-law (who’s in SoCal) you should always plant your tomatoes on the full moon near Easter (above ground plants on the full moon, below ground plants (carrots, etc.) on the new (or dark) moon.)
I’m certainly not an expert, but his plants always grow beautifully. You might want to invest in a copy of this year’s Farmer’s Almanac, it tells you all kinds of interesting stuff like this (I’m not sure, but I think Poor Richard’s Almanac is good too.) Good luck!
P.S. – Best stuff for worms and other things is a product called “Seveia” or it might be “Severnia”…ask at your local garden shop, but it’s not a spray, it’s a powder. Works.
