Question by mystyllyne: How long does Tomato Juice stay good once it is opened?
I just want to know if the tomato juice in my fridge that I opened a little over a week ago, and has an expiration date of Dec. 2010 is still good?

I usually don’t keep things more than a week just to be on the safe side. The expiration date printed on the package doesn’t really matter after you open it.

Have leftover stir-fry? Chill it, then toss it with chopped tomato and fresh torn basil. Season with salt and fresh lime juice. Serve cold! – by EatThisNotThat (Eat This, Not That!)

Any canned goods such as tomato juice should be consumed asap after opening. Let’s say maximum 4 to 5 days. No more. This info comes from a student of mine who has a PhD in biology. He lived in France a few years (studying) & says we Americans save food much too long in the fridge.
I pay very little attention to expiration dates, they put a damn exp date on everything these days because they know that there are people who will throw stuff away and go buy another just because the date is past.
Tomato juice is one thing that you can smell when it’s gone bad. There’s no questions about it. It will stink like no other. As long as it doesn’t stink it’s fine regardless of the date or how long it’s been since you opened it.
if it’s in a glass or plastic container it is fine. my wife always loses her mind and says you shouldn’t keep any canned food (once opened) in the can in the refrigerator. although it never hurt me growing up
