Question by ♪ghetto momma bear ♪: How long until the skunk smell leaves my cat?
My cat got in a fight with a skunk last night. We treated his wound on his paw and now all we have to do is take care of the smell. Will the skunk smell go away with time? How long? I heard the tomato juice doesn’t work.. and we’re wary to try other things because of the wound (might sting if we try other remedies?)

Thanks!

Actually, tomato juice does work fairly well. My dog got sprayed once and we bathed her in it. It takes a few times but finally the smell was gone.
I’d try the tomato juice or you’ll just have to suffer through the smell for a while.

  1. LOL Yea I see what you mean. If I had that much produce to process, I would be exhausted to & ready for a break. I only have 10 tomato plants~so just a small bit compared to what you had. But in the end, it will all be worth it! I wanted to say also that the little table is so cool! Yes you deserve a winter break! I wish we had a good winter but our weather just slowly blends & then before you know it~It is hot & humid again! LOL Ughh Take care.

  2. I would have had a bunch more but the shrews and mice that are now living in the straw ruined a bunch of them. I don’t kow about innovative… I just don’t like to do things half assed. Just a little work now will make the job easier from now on.

  3. The juicer is a Squeezo. I don’t know if they are still made. The kind my one friend bought has a plastic auger. His did come with a cover that goes over the tapered sieve. Thaw would help keep a lot of juice from spraying everywhere.

  4. I started to say that you are lucky that you have two growing seasons in the south. But I am kind of glad for the winter break. By the time we get frosted and the garden dies I am burned out on gardening. I hope your fall crop does great for you.

  5. Lots of work but worth it.

  6. Damn that’s alot of tomatos lol. That little stand for the juicer is genius! Hahahahaha now that is how ya get-r-done. You are very innovative Buck! Great video.

  7. I love that juicer you have.. very nice and Wow those tomatoes look awesome!

  8. WOW awesome tomatoes!! I want to grow lots more next yr. I am loving my dehydrated tomatoes & crushed tomatoes I canned. I do have 5 plants of a Patio Tomato growing right now for fall. And they are small tomatoes but Ohh they are so flavorful! Love them! I also have a few other tomato plants for fall garden. Planted beans & carrots the other day~I hope they do good. I would be so excited to have 3 (5gal) buckets of tomatoes!! Enjoy! Can’t wait to see vid tmr. rest good. Take care.

  9. nice

  10. If you do nothing about it, it will stay in for weeks.
    Tomato juice actually DOES work.
If your afraid it will sting it’s wound, just put a bag over it’s paw and keep it on tightly with a rubber band.

  11. I don’t think it would be a good idea to try the tomato juice.

Tomatoes of all kinds are toxic to cats, as are parts of the tomato plant. Ingesting as little as a cherry tomato can cause severe gastrointestinal upset.

  12. Just wait it out would be best!It should smell less each day and should be gone in a week to 10 days.

  13. Weeks!

  14. Look on the internet for a really good wash now that is totally harmless to the cats. You MUST wash the cat asap – do not let it try to lick itself clean. BTW skunks carry rabies so I hope your cat has a rabies shot.

Best to be keeping your cat inside from now on.
