Question by SARAH: I would like to substitute spaghetti sauce for tomato sauce in a spaghetti meatball tomato soup can I do this?
The recipe calls for 3 cans or 24 oz of tomato sauce, I have a 261/2 oz can of DelMonte canned spaghetti sauce. I am making a spaghetti, meatball, tomato sauce soup. There is snow and ice on ground and unable to go to store. Can this substitution be done successfully. The receipe. has a carrot, garlic, celery, but have no celery either, onion.

this is just cutting the tomatoes! wheres the rest of the soup?????? thanks.
absolutely! Just do it. Probably will be better.
I have substituted spaghetti sauce for tomato sauce in recipes before. It shouldn’t be a problem. If you are missing a lot of the other ingredients you might want to find a different recipe.
It can be done, but it will not taste the same.
Of course! Spaghetti auce = Tomato sauce + spices so….if you don’t want it too spicy, don’t add as many or as much of the spices asked for in the recipe.
