Question by Mr. and Mrs. Q: Can you substitute tomato sauce for tomato soup?
I’m wanting to make macaroni and tomatoes, but I don’t have any tomato sauce, so can I use tomato soup instead?

You can. It won’t taste exactly the same. But in a pinch it’s doable.

  1. Sure. If you are using boxed mac and cheese then I would only add about 1/2 the can or so. If you have sour cream add a little scoop of that as well. ANd a few spices such as italian seasoning, parsley, chives etc….

  2. well you can, but it will be a bit different.
    If thats all you have, can you add some white beans and some italian seasonings and make a soup? I have a good recipe for that

  3. You have to use tomato paste. it tastes better

  4. I would go for a can of diced tomatoes before I did tomato soup.

  5. sure you can bt you do not have the taste as from the tomato sauce as it is got some spices in

  6. I would use diced or stewed tomatoes as a first choice. You can certainly use the soup, however, if it is a commercial soup like Campbell’s it will be much sweeter tasting as they use quite a bit of sugar in those.
