Question by chef_renee: What do you add to your Basic Tomato Soup for fun?
I love Tomato Soup and have prepared it with several different items, but I would love to hear what you have created from this old time, wintery classic soup! Thanks!

It’s probably a bit boring but I like nothing better with it than lots of black pepper and a cheese sandwich on the side made with soft white bread and lots of butter

Bowl is Homer-Laughlin Fiestaware, 6.5 inches across… this was my second helping, BTW.
A grilled cheese sandwich.
Not much, just milk and water. Love it with a grilled cheese sandwich, with sharp cheddar cheese and lots of butter on the bread.
I zip it up with fresh herbs like basil, and often add sour cream or a bit of really good cheese like gueryere(sp?)…..no one said canned food can’t be made great!
Well, I’m not sure what you’ve been putting in your tomato soup but a little bit of milk and/or heavy cream thickens the consistency of the soup a bit and tones down the tangy-ness of the soup.
I also add some herbs such as chives, basil, oregano and sometimes rosemary. It just brings out the flavor of a simple tomato soup.

i love bacon bits, cheese and lots of pepper. w crackers
i make mine with half can water than other half milk and a grilled cheese sanwitch with two diffrent chesses and crackers
