I’m not sure what the smell is, but I know hunters who wash their hunting clothes in Pine-Sol. It cleans the clothes well, it kills odors, and the pine smell does not repel wildlife as detergents can do (assuming there are pines in your area).
Also, you can hang them on plastic hangers and dry them outdoors instead of putting them in a dryer. This will help to deodorize them further, and will give them a good ‘outdoorsy’ smell when you go hunting.
I would not use tomato juice. It would most likely stain your clothes.
Hope this helps!

Just put a cup of baking soda in the wash cycle and allow to soak in it for at least 45 minutes. Then let the clothes go through the wash cycle. Then, add a cup of white vinegar to the rinse cycle and they’ll be fine. You won’t smell the vinegar once they’re dry. Don’t use tomato juice. you’ll have stained clothes, for sure.
