Question by natashap: What is bruschetta, how can i use it?
I have a jar of sun dried tomato bruschetta , what kind of pasta do i use it with. Can i use it with sphaghetti or penne? what other vegetables…nuts can be used to garnish pasta if served with bruschetta? Thanks

bruschetta is usually on top of small slices of bread. like a baguette and served as an appetizer.

  7. You use it on top of small slices of bread. It’s an appetizer, usually. But, if you like the taste, try it over a pasta. You might try adding roasted vegtables, and serve with bread. If you serve it over bread, lightly toast the bread, maybe some butter and rub a garlic clove over it for flavor.

  8. Buy a french baguette, cut into med. thin slices, brush with olive oil and bake until golden brown; serve the bruschetta on top as an appetizer. MMM delicious.

  10. bruschetta typically is a country Italian bread toasted rubbed with fresh garlic and topped with any condiment that you like,served as appetizer or with soup(Italian minestrone or pappa al pomodoro or ribollita etc..)

  11. Bruschetta usually refers to the bread, not the topping. A good Pugliese or Ciabatta makes good bruschetta – you slice it thin, rub it with olive oil and garlic, and then toast it in the oven.

    However, it’s not your fault they labeled the stuff wrong. What does the topping look like? Assuming you still want to use it with pasta, is it chunky, like little bits of tomato and herbs packed together in oil? Chunky things like that are best served with shaped pasta like penne or shells. That way, you can “catch” some of the topping inside the holes in the pasta. Spaghetti or linguine are not as good a choice because it’ll be very hard to get both pasta and topping in the same bite.

    And if you’re thinking to add more things to this pasta/topping mixture, I highly recommend pine nuts. So very tasty.

    You might even consider making this up cold – chill the pasta and then stir in the topping and garnish with pine nuts. The warm weather means it’s a great time for cold pasta salads!
