i am kind of confuse because some of my friend tell that tomato is fruit because it bring seed inside but my other friend say that is a vegetable because they use on salad. so can a tomato be a fruit and a vegetable at the same time. now the best answer cost 20 point did it you know.

Tomatoes are technically fruit because they carry seeds. The fruit is a part of the anatomy of any flowering plant. A vegetable is a plant or a part of a plant that is used for food. Therefore a tomato is both a vegetable and a fruit.
Nowadays people usually make the distinction based on flavor. If it’s sweeter they will call it a fruit. If it is less sweet they’ll call it a veggie.
If people say that tomato is a fruit b’coz of seeds, its wrong! Tomato is a fruit, not because of its seeds but because of the way it grows.

Botanically, a fruit. Legally, a vegetable. The Supreme Court of the US made that ruling for purposes of commerce because of the way it is used and eaten.. Of course, you can have tomato juice as easily as apple juice and you can put fruit in your salad, if you want (Waldorf salad, for example). But who said that legal definitions have to make sense?
