Question by Amaira: Any good recipes with chicken breast or steak?
A co-worker of my boyfriends gave us a whole bunch of meat because his wife and him became vegetarian. I would really like to cook something with it. There is chicken, steak, roast, hamburger patties, and a few pork things. Problem is I need a good recipe with not a whole huge list of ingredients. I can’t afford to go to the grocery store right now. I do have all sorts of spices, cream of mushroom soup, beans, pasta, and tomato sauce/soup. So any good ideas for dinner tonight?

I love baking hamburger patties, and when they are just about done mixing mushroom soup with about 1/4 cup of milk and dumping that over the meat and cook for about 20 mins more….

Served with some mashed potatoes…

  1. I don’t know about that

  2. pozole de camerones! give it a try, if your ever in Playas de Tijuana you must have a bowl at kokopellis que rico!

  3. It’s green cabbage Paul, but you could easily use red cabbage as well. I wouldn’t use powdered. Best to omit the cloves entirely. Clove powders are safe to eat, the only reason we discarded the cloves was because the whole cloves are hard and unchewable. SO – just leave them out if you don’t have them. :-)

  4. Dear Shawna,
Thanks for sharing this wonderful recipe. I do have two questions, please help me out.
First, one of your ingredients is cabbage; would it be the same thing as ‘green cabbage’ ?
Second, the cloves I’ve found is in the form of powder. Is it o.k. to consume that? Because in your video clip, your cloves is in seeds form and you discarded them at the end?
    Thanks and regards,..

  5. Glad you like it! Thanks!

This is my “Go To” book when I have limited funds. Almost every recipe uses ingredients found in a common pantry. I also love her “plain English” and “no nonsense” directions.

There is a used one on eBay

Your local library probably has the “Company’s Coming” series on their shelves. Another good one to look at is “Company’s Coming Pasta”.
