Question by Melissa C: Does anyone know where I can find a recipe for Prawns in Tomato Sauce?
I had this dish when holidaying in Thailand (Phuket) a few years ago and absolutely loved it. I would love the recipe for it if possible.

I found one recipe at www.recipesoure.com, but is states it is from India

  26. Prawns in Tomato Sauce

    15 medium Prawns, devien
    1 cup of peas, steamed
    a pinch of salt and pepper
    1 tablespoon Chinese Cooking Wine
    1 tablespoon Cornflour
    Oil for frying
    Tomato Sauce:
    4 tablespoon Tomato Sauce
    1 tablespoon Sugar
    1/2 teaspoon Salt
    1 tablespoon Apple Cider or White Vinegar
    2 tablespoon Broth or Water
    Cornflour mixture (thickener)

    Directions
    Mix all ingredients except peas together.
    Deep fry prawns till golden brown.
    Set aside.
    In a wok, pour ingredients for sauce.
    Mix well and bring to a boil.
    Add peas.
    Thicken the sauce with cornflour mixture till desire thickness.
    Add in prawns and coat well with sauce.
    Dish and serve.

  27. Thai Prawns in A Spicy Tomato Sauce:

    INGREDIENTS

    1 (14 ounce) cans coconut milk
    2 tablespoons red Thai curry paste
    2 cups tomato puree
    1 tablespoon fish sauce
    3-4 fresh Thai red chili peppers, seeded and minced
    4-5 leaves fresh Thai basil
    juice of 1 lime
    24 large prawns, peeled and deveined

    DIRECTIONS

    In a wok, combine coconut milk, curry paste, fish sauce, tomato puree and minced pepper. Slowly bring to a simmer over medium low heat, stirring frequently. Reduce heat to low, and add prawns and the lime juice. Cook uncovered, stirring frequently, until prawns are cooked and flavors mellow, about 15 minutes. Garnish with Thai basil and serve with Jasmine rice.
