Campbell’s Tomato Soup new formula 2009

In 2009, after 112 years, Campbell’s changed the recipe for their venerable Tomato Soup to reduce the amount sodium to meet minimum federal health standards….

Question by Madeline: What can I make using any, some, or all of the following ingredients?
I have only the following ingredients:
flour
sugar
brown sugar
baking soda
butter
salt
powdered sugar
milk

  1. tastes like crap now, was my favorite soup

  2. You two are so cute. Thanks for the review.

  3. I think you can make biscuits.. then you could put jam on them, or even make little sandwiches if you have meat. You might be able to make pancakes, also.. but I’m not positive. OH! And the pasta.. you can boil that then toss it in a pan with butter, salt and if you have garlic/garlic powder/garlic salt (omit salt for last one).. its pretty tasty. Sugar cookies? Pastry dough.. well, I think that’s all my ideas. Good luck!

  4. Cook the pasta and put the tomato soup on it. That should last for several meals if it is refrigerated. Then find a recipe for shortbread cookies using the sugar, butter, flour, and salt. They do not require eggs and are SO good.

  5. Shortbread Cookies

3/4 pound unsalted butter, room temp
    1 cup sugar
    1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
    1 teaspoon pure almond extract
    3½ cups all-purpose flour
    ¼ teaspoon salt

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, mix together the butter and sugar until they are just combined. Add the vanilla and almond extracts. In a medium bowl, sift together the flour and salt, then add them to the butter/sugar mixture. Mix on low speed until the dough starts to come together. Dump onto a surface dusted with flour and shape into a flat disk. Wrap in plastic and chill for 30 minutes.

Roll the dough 1/2-inch thick and cut into 2 1/2-inch squares with a plain or fluted cutter (or cut into any shape you like). Place the cookies on an ungreased baking sheet.

Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until the edges begin to brown. Allow to cool to room temperature and serve.
