Cherry Tomato Salsa Dip Recipe.

Home-grown cherry tomato salsa dip. It turned out fantastic, especially after the addition of more ghost chili sauce.

Question by Alex: How do I know what plants I can mix?
I was wondering if I could mix things like a Bhut Jolokia and a Cherry Tomato? But there could be other mixes of plants that use different methods to get nutrients like a carnivore plant and a fruit (maybe even a vegetable?)? How do I know what kind of plants will mix properly? Also as a side note, can I take the seeds from a hybrid plant instead of cloning it?

When you say mix what do you mean? Next to each other? Yes Bhut’s and Cherries can grow together but sweet and hot peppers should be grown far apart or the sweet pepper may get pollinated by the hot pepper and get hot too, not as hot but maybe a little hot. And the hot pepper may not be as hot as it should be. A carnivore plant is not for a vegetable garden too small and needs much different care. Fruit is usually bushes or trees and they need to grow in a group on their own because they would shade the vegetables and if they don’t get enough sun they will not give you much of a harvest. If you mean fruit like melons they should grow by themselves too as you would have to step on vines to get to the tomatoes or peppers. The best way to find these things out is to try them and see what works and doesn’t work. They’re is a method of gardening called Square Foot Gardening where you grow everything in a 4 foot x 4 foot raised bed garden.

Here’s a link to the book.

It is one of my favorite books has much useful information in it.

No, the seeds of a hybrid only have 25% chance of breeding true. Google “Mendel’s Law” if you want to know more. You have to take cuttings to be sure it is same as parent plant.
