Question by Bill Wants to Know: Can I trim the tops of tomato plants without affecting the harvest?
I have a couple of tomato plants in large pots on the patio. They are growing too tall for the support stakes. Can I trim them back? If I do, will I get fewer tomatoes?

yes you can..I do it when mine get too tall also..just clip above a branch that is growing..if you cut too low where no new branches are coming off you will get no new growth.I have the same mount after clipping..When the plant is spending all its energy growing taller you get less tomatoes.
