Question by Jacob S: What is the Sweetest Best Tasting Tomato To Grow?
I’ve been looking for some very sweet tomatoes to grow, and just can’t decide what to choose.

This next year I think I’m going to focus my garden space on bite sized tomatoes, but of course reserve a few spaces for some nice medium or large sized ones.

Any suggestions for us? I like to grow from seed indoors, so that’s no problem with trying to find something good in a nursery.

I grew some Brandywines this year after reading all the hype about them, and wasn’t truly impressed. Yeah they grew huge, some were on the mark of 2 pounds, but they tasted no better or worse then my vigorous early girls. And not to mention they were very ugly looking and very low in production compared to all my other large strains.

We do prefer to have mostly bite sized, easy access while walking by since we are usually short on time, but we do like a nice big slice on a BLT on occasion. So any suggestions or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

variety is whatever you choose as far as size goes, to make sure they taste good is pick them at the peak of ripeness

  2. I have found the sweetest tomatoes are grape tomatoes.

  3. Sweet 100’s about 2″
Moreton is a regular tomatoe, they are sweet and the skin is soft to bite into and easy to chew.

  4. As Daisy recommended, the Grape tomatoes are the sweetest tomatoes as to the answer to the question you posted. Just make sure to get seeds from a reputable seed company because there are a lot of rip offs out there. The plants are very high yielding and will grow as tall as the supports you have for them.

  5. I grew some mortgage lifters this year and they are fantastic not to much acid taste just a really good flavor. I have made my sauce with them and also hot sauce.

  7. Sweet 100’s are the sweetest, bite size tomatoes. You won’t be dissapointed. I don’t like tomatoes, raw, and even I didn’t mind these so much. My 3 year old pops them like grapes!
