Question by orzoff: am cooking dinner for my gf’s birthday and the theme is Academy Awards.?
I want to make some different dishes that were named after some movies or had something to do with some famous movies.
For example, I could make Mystic Pizza pizza or Fried Green Tomatos.

I want to make a salad, an appetizer, an entree, a dessert and an alcoholic beverage.

Please give me your ideas for some specific dishes named after specific movies. Thanks

Fiskepudding, a nice cucumber salad with Polish cream dressing, a nice loaf of light rye bread and some sweet and sour purple cabbage with black currant sauce. For dessert, try apfelkuchen or babas au rhum.

  3. I have another suggestion. What if you concentrate on the Academy Award nominees for Best Picture in 2007? It will be current and would make it easier for you, too.
Babel – Moroccan cuisine ex. falafel, salad, hummus etc.
The Departed – Irish American ex. Bailey’s
Letters from Iwo Jima – Japanese ex. sushi, tempura
Little Miss Sunshine – American ex. pie for dessert
The Queen – British ex. roast beef or lamb and yorkshire pudding

Or, you could always mix it up and do other dishes. You get the idea.
