Question by Mandy: What’s the best marinade for chicken & steak kabobs on the grill?
I want to make my own marinade for chicken and steak kabobs. I plan on putting onions, peppers, mushrooms and maybe cherry tomatos on the skewers with the meat. What would be a good marinade I could use for both the meats and maybe the veggies too?

I find the best marinade to be any bottled salad dressing that you have in the fridge. Even ones you bought but didn’t like for your salad. They hav the right ingredients for a marinade (oil and vinegar/lemon juice) and the rest is gravy.

  1. yes hard to illustrate the faint stripping, glad your monitor was of sufficient resolution.

  2. yes i have the zebrino as well,i will post video of that when it ripens.

  3. I talked to Max and he thinks it might have crossed with zebrino. which he grew last year, so it may be a cross of a cross! It has the sungold colour.

  4. Nice demonstration. The green striping is faint, but I could see it. And I only have a quarter-decent monitor.

  5. Honey and soy sauce.

    Yummo!

  6. Terriyaki mixed with Worcestershire sauce, always great…also put on summer squash, or zucchini,

  7. Italian dressing.

  8. I agree with the Honey and soy sause. Maybe u can use a honey mustard, soy souce, butter and some sesame to top it. mmmmm
I dont recoment to use de same season in the veggies…. then everything will have the same taste… u can use a very similar one but change something… some peper for veggies or something.

  9. These all sound good, but you need to remember that the best grilled meats & veggies have a “tang” that only acidity can give them. Think good vinegar or sour citrus. This is why Italian Dressing works so well, it’s got quite a bit of vinegar. But, when you know that the foundation of a good marinade is an acidic liquid & oil, your only limitation is your imagination.

  10. Plain old Italian or vinaigrette salad dressing really is wonderful for both steak and chicken – especially on the grill.

  11. the juice of 5 limes, 4 sprigs of fresh thyme, 6 cloves of garlic, 1/2 cup soy sauce, and 2 chilis
