Question by David P: What’s the best way to get rid of mealy bugs eating my tomato plants?
Those white, sticky mealy bugs are eating my tomato plants and have also attacked the olive tree right next to them. The leaves of the tomato plants are wilted, curled and brown on the ends. What’s the best way to get rid of the mealy bugs? Should I buy pesticides? If so, what kind? Should I buy some other insects to eat the mealy bugs? Please help! Thank you.

Beneficial nematodes will get rid of the mealy bugs, and any other predatory insect

I am impressed with the presenters care of the plant and tips on care. Good way to grow. I am of the opinion that every opportunity should be taken to grow anything we can and every day offers a reason to do so. Plant into containers, propagate, plant into beds, plant on the wall, on the roof, anything we can to make it happen. Take back our power and stop depending on a corrupt system for food. The great pleasure comes in taking the steps and then seeing the results down the track.

I can not in good faith post your comment unless you have proof. I sit now with coffee and look at my garden vegetables, and read labels, with names of ingredients I CAN DEFINE, that have been used by generations of people in my fam and others.Guaranteed analysis made USA f1198, And just as others here before you bitching about food safe buckets, one only has to turn it over and read the label. If you use to much nitrogen you cause tomatoes, or ANY plant to go green and not produce fruit.

Hi yankeegal01, i am intrigued by your idea of self watering but not following the instructions. Could you be more clear about how the microwave plate goes into the bucket and exactly where the holes go. How can it be self watering if there are holes in the bucket? do you have a picture? thanks

This video is proof anyone can grow tomatoes.
I can tell you this method works. This year I used 5gal buckets with microwave plate covers that I put a few extra holes in, then drilled holes in the buckets just above where the plate level is, and they are self watering. I also used my old method of large self waters. I can tell you, the ones in the 5gal buckets vs the commercial self waterers is incredible. The ones in 5gal are tall, bushy and a good green. The ones in the commercial self waterers are thin, tall and light green.
