Question by spidey: Is this a good diet? Salad all the time?
here’s the plan & I have a big appetite so I’ll be eating a lot

-mostly salad (just lettuce & tomatoes) -a LOT of salad
-1 white meat serving a day, cause I hear protein burns fat
-fruit for snacks, every now & then
-as little bread as possible

& of course all the water I can stand

this should help me lose weight, right? I’m almost 200 lbs now & am tired of being overweight. Answers appreciated =)
I have been putting a couple croutons on the salad & drizzle them with french dressing. I just figured it’s better than the double chzburger meals I was eating.

Also, if u guys have any tips to help me suppress my appetite that should help.
& I’m not trying to starve myself. I like salads- I said I’d be eating a lot of them. I like just about all food, hence the 200lbs =)

  1. You need to include exercise with your diet. Not saying u can’t lose weight without it but it will help u lose weight faster. Try walking for 30 minutes 3 times a week while your on your diet. and stick to it.

  2. your diet should be more varried. eating a lot of salads wont give you all the nurtients you need.
    plus, salads aren’t always good for you, especially if you add alot of fatty dressing.

    But remember, along with dieting you should exercises to keep the weight off.

  4. a balanced diet and a lot of excercise is the best
    eat fruit&veg/carbos/proteinetc.
    and do as much exercise as your body can take also drink plenty of water … you’ll see the results

  5. You don’t need to restrict your fruit – it is good for you after all.

    Also, it’d probably do you some good to eat cereal in the morning. It’ll make you feel less hungry for the remainder of the day. And finally, there are far more interesting salads that simple tomato+lettuce, have a look around the net for some ideas.

    On this diet, you WILL find yourself extremely hungry – aim to eat 2000 calories per day (your diet will give you 300 or so, which simply isn’t enough). Perhaps all you have to do is cut your portion sizes down. Going too extreme will put your body into “starvation mode” and you’ll hardly lose any weight at all.

  6. Try eating only 1 kind of fruit / day.
    No bread, white meat. Protein burns fat? No, muscles burn fat.
    Try running, abs, sit-ups. Definitely running, at least 2 km / day. No matter what quantity of water will make you drink. No sweets. Well, maybe a little chocolate, every time you increase the distance that you run, by, let’s say, 500m.

I just wanted to comment on the salad part… there have been times I bought so much salad so I could stuff my face with it whenever I wanted and not gain weight, but I learned that it kind of made me hungrier… it was like eating water but didn’t take up any space in my stomach. A different vegetable would make you feel fuller and be really low cal like salad— for example broccoli, peppers, cauliflower, etc. Salad doesn’t really have much fiber, and the veggies I mentioned have a lot of water in them and will make you feel full.

    Also exercise helps you to lose weight, so if you have a balanced diet and do regular exercise you should lose weight easily.

  10. You need to have an extremely balanced diet. Look up articles on how your meals should be.

    Most meal advisors (my sister makes meal plans for people who are overweight or unhealthy) eat stuff that may sound or look completely fattening for you but you need a certain amount of Carbs in your diet, you need the Protein red-meat may give you, you need lots of Fiber.

    You may lose weight doing the plan you have set up but you wont be exactly healthy but not unhealthy (if that makes sense).

    What you have to do is have a minimum of 30 minutes devoted to just walking/jogging/running. And have 6 meals in a day.

    Each meal should be a LOT less than the meals people usually eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

    An ideal diet would be 6 smaller meals as opposed to 2-3 large meals (fattening or not).

    The smaller amounts of time in between your meals (and please do not stuff yourself during these meals) will enable your body to speed up your metabolism and therefore make it possible for you to enjoy all the different daily values you need for healthy-balanced diet while keeping yourself at a healthy weight at the same time.

  11. Well it will work short turn, but your body needs carbohydrates. Try whole grains and brans. They will fill you up. You need to eat six small meals a day. You should be eating about 1800 cals a day to lose weight. And excercise 4 times a week (30 mins cardio and 30 mins weight training). Girl just stay positive but humans aren’t rabbit we cannot live off lettuce. I would reccomend doing that for the first 2 days to jump start your diet. Lemon water in the morning with light yogurt and oranges. Then baked chicken and salad for lunch. An apple for a snack. Diet soda if you start to get a headache from lack of carbs, and a small serving of rice with veggies and fish for dinner. mix it up though after that. Dont kill yourself. You live longer eating too much than starving yourself.

  12. For all of us who are overweight it is a lifetime battle. Unless you plan to eat this way the rest of your life, I think you won’t have much success. We need to eat a proper nutritional diet–controlling portions and exercise to burn off the calories we consume. I hate exercise so I find walking to be helpful. Wishing you success.

  13. no!! balance it out.. have porridge in the morning with blueberries lunch have a grilled checken salad with balsamic dressing dinner griled chicken and wholemeal rice with steamed veg and 2 litres of water a day and snack on apples! :) i hope it will help and exercisse!!

    You can eat anything you want as long as its portions are right.
    And just eating doesn’t make you lose weight,
    you have to exercise too.
    If you just sit there and only eat salad,
    your going to gain weight because your body goes into starvation mode and you aren’t getting the right nutrition your body needs.
    And sometimes I used to drink like, lots of sugary drinks – and all you need to do is switch to diet. It tastes bad, but you get used to it. Like snapple, I love snapple, but I noticed I was gaining weight so I switched to diet and I’m not gaining weight.

    And exercise isn’t bad. To start out just get your bum up and go take a walk, turn that walk into a fast walk, into a jog, into a run. Or just drive over to the gym and work out on the treadmill for 30 minutes.

    So don’t starve your body on the things it needs, pills don’t work, and exercise and eat right. And most grocery stores now tell you whats good for you.

    And my mom was 185 pounds, and just got sick of being that way. She used to just sit infront of the TV and eat. She’d be able to eat a whole tub of ice cream in like, 15 minutes. Now she’s around 135 pounds and all she did was cut that ice cream and eat better foods and exersice with me and her friends at the gym and she looks really good and can wear the things she never thought she’d ever fit in again!

    So, thats all you really need to do.
    Not eat salad all the time. And chicken, BEEF! 😀
    And if you want a really good salad, I don’t know if a gorcery store near you has a salad bar, but, look at what they have there at the salad bar and make a salad like that.
    And for snacks, They came out with those like, 100 calorie things, so get those. And bread is fine. People say wheat is good, But I don’t really like wheatish thingys so I just stick to the normal white. =D

    Oh, and cut the dressing. =) Because there are alot of calories right there.
