Question by justborn: crushed tomatoes for Penne Arrabbiata?
I am craving for penne arrabbiata for long. Finally, I am planning to make it this week. I would like to know what kind of tomatoes will give the exact flavor. smashed, fresh, crushed(what brand of canned tomatoes)? and in the recipe they mentioned as red chili, do they mean chili flakes or something else?

  23. I love arabiata! yes they mean red chili fakes. But I have never had a arabiata with tom., I would say if you add them first then canned would be the way to go, but if it is added at the end then I would use fresh.
