You can try, but it may not work. Seeds from hybrid plants don’t always grow into a mature plant like it’s parents. You should buy tomato seeds in a pack, or buy a tomato plant seedling, like from Home Depot or the garden center. You can try to grow from seeds you have taken from a grocery store tomato, or any other vegetable, but if it doesn’t work out, you’ve wasted a lot of time. What you may want to try is to buy some seeds or a seedling and after harvesting the tomatoes, you can save those seeds. if the plant is outdoors and was pollinated the natural way, it will more likely produce useful seeds you can rely on. Then you will also have your own “heirloom” seeds that you can grow future generations from, it they plants turn out well. A lot of it comes down to trial-and-error and experimentation.

  1. by all means try, just scrape seeds out of tomato of your choice put on kitchen towel on window sill and keep damp when they sprout place in compost
