Question by Steven N: How long does canned soup last past the expiration date?
I have 2 cans of soup, 1 tomato soup that expired in 2004 and a can of cream of brocolli soup that expired in 2006 would they still be safe to use or should I just toss them?

It will ususally last about a week. If you take a bite of it and it doesnt taste right. But if it is from a couple years ago…- dont eat it, toss it. You could get pretty sick. Hope this helps!

  20. Isn’t that ring great? I bought it in Victoria when I was away and the best part is that you can buy different inserts for it – they call them “JewelPops” I bought the yin yan symbol but you can switch it up to change the ring. The company that makes them is called Kameleon. Have a great Monday!

  21. Thanks Lynn – you too!

  22. Thanks Todd :-)

  23. Enjoy Jo!

  24. Erm… there’s a reason there’s an expiration date… canned soups usually last a long time, years even. I’m guessing you’ve had those soups for quite some time now. I’d toss them if I were you.

  25. When in doubt, throw it out.
It makes no sense to mess with your health or die in a terrible way over a few cans of expired food.
You don’t want to get sick from botulism.

  26. canned foods usually last for a long time even after the expiration date is expired the expiration date is the date the store has to sell it by as long as their isn’t rust on the can or if the can hasn’t bubbled up or open then it it okay If the can looks normal then its okay

  27. If you haven’t opened the cans and they were stored in a cool place, you could put it in a pot to heat. If it smells, do not use. If no smell, you could heat to boiling for a few minutes and then eat. The heat will kill any germs, but I do not think germs could get into a closed can anyway. If the tops of the cans are bulging up, then do not use.
