  1. Look at the ingredients of canned tomato soup (tomatoes, garlic powder, onion powder, spices, salt, etc….”
If you want to use crushed or stewed tomatoes….just add more seasoning to taste. Use vegetable stock instead of the plain water.
This is what I did…..beautiful tomato rasam.

  2. It turned out wonderfully.

  3. I get tired of these people complaining about shortcuts. I specifically wanted a recipe that used canned soup. I’m running ragged with making parathas from scratch, grilling my tandoori chicken from scratch, draining cucumbers for the Raita I’m making from scratch, I’m not going to feel bad about using good old campbells. i will sub milk and my own spices, though. You folk complaining about canned must have too much time on your hands. Thank you Ladies for the basic recipe!!!!

  26. Sounds like Chicken Tortilla Soup. I don’t usually cook mine in a crockpot, but here’s a recipe you might enjoy:

2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic, and cumin. Cut into cubes.
    1 box Organic Chicken Broth
1 15 oz can diced tomatos with garlic and green pepper
    1 4oz can dice green chili’s
1 T chopped pickled jalapenos (opt.)
    3 T cumin
    1 T kosher salt
    1/2 tsp fresh ground pepper
    1 can black beans, rinsed
1 cup sweet corn (frozen or canned)
    1/2 cup sour cream
    1 cup crushed tortilla chips
1 cup Pace Salsa, medium heat
    1 yellow onion, chopped
    1/4 cup fresh lime juice

Saute onion and chicken in hot oil until onion is translucent and chicken is browned on all sides. In large stock pot, add chicken, onions, spices, broth, tomatos, green chili’s and salsa. Bring to a boil. Add beans, corn and reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Add sour cream and tortilla chips. Simmer 10 minutes. Add lime juice. Season to taste and serve with tortilla strips, sour cream, and avocado.
