doesn’t like it. My parents live in Spain, and can grow it really well. I’m
determined to grow some as it’s great in curries. I will succeed one year!!

  6. God bless u my friend.

  7. Amazing okra will not grow in the UK. It grows without any help here. it
needs very little attention. Very low maintenance. I ordered some giant
hybrid tomatoes from Burpee online seed company. I planted them late. The
bush is big right now with yellow bloom, no tomatoes. So i am still
trying…i will not give up until i get them to grow. Thanks for watching
and commenting…all the way from the UK.

  29. Homemade Tomato Soup

    Ingredients
    1 (14-ounce) can chopped tomatoes
3/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
    1 stalk celery, diced
    1 small carrot, diced
    1 yellow onion, diced
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    1 cup chicken broth
    1 bay leaf
    2 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup chopped fresh basil leaves
    1/2 cup heavy cream, optional

    Directions
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.

Strain the chopped canned tomatoes, reserving the juices, and spread onto a baking sheet, season with salt and pepper, to taste, drizzle with 1/4 cup of the olive oil and roast until caramelized, about 15 minutes.

Meanwhile, in a saucepan, heat remaining olive oil over medium-low heat. Add the celery, carrot, onion and garlic, cook until softened, about 10 minutes. Add the roasted chopped canned tomatoes, reserved tomato juices, chicken broth, bay leaf and butter. Simmer until vegetables are very tender, about 15 to 20 minutes. Add basil and cream, if using. Puree with a hand held immersion blender until smooth.

  30. this is SO amazing.
for lighter version you can use less butter and you do not need the cream, i never make it with cream as it really doesn’t need it! this is the full fat go for it version but i’ve adapted it with 1/10 of the fat and it is wonderful recipe!
    enjoy, it is the best!!!

    ELEPHANT TOMATO ORANGE SOUP

1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)
    1/2 medium onion, diced
    2 (14 1/2 ounce) cans diced tomatoes
    1 teaspoon salt
    1/2 teaspoon cracked black pepper
    1/4 teaspoon baking soda
    1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
    1 cup fresh orange juice
    1/2 cup heavy cream
In a saucepan, melt butter; add onion and saute until translucent. Add tomatoes, salt, pepper, baking soda and thyme. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer uncovered about 15 minutes or until slightly thickened.

Puree in a food processor or blender; strain through a sieve or food mill. (The Soup Lady likes a little texture and uses a hand held immersion blender for this.)

Return to saucepan and stir in orange juice. At this point, the soup can be refrigerated until ready to serve.

At serving time, add the whipping cream and heat gently, stirring constantly, bringing to a simmer and adjust seasonings if necessary. Extra cream maybe drizzled on top of the soup immediately before serving for decorative effect.

  32. 4 cups peeled, seeded and chopped large tomatoes (you could use canned tomatoes to save time)
    4 cups tomato juice
    1/3 cup basil leaves
    1 cup milk
    1/4 t salt
1/4 t cracked pepper (I do the salt and pepper to taste)
    3 oz.light cream cheese, softened

In a large pot, bring tomatoes and juice to a boil, and then reduce heat, simmer uncovered for 20 minutes.
    LET COOL.
Put mixture and 1/3 cup basil in blender until smooth.
Return the mixture to the pot over medium heat. Stir in milk, salt and pepper. Add cream cheese and whisk mixture until it’s thick and smooth. Garnish with basil leaves.

  33. I know you asked this question an hour ago so I’m probably too late, but this recipe is great…

    ***Quick Tomato Basil Soup***

    •2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
    •4 cloves garlic, minced
•1 medium onion, very finely chopped
•2 cans crushed tomatoes (28 ounce cans)
    •1 box vegetable stock
    •Salt and pepper to taste
•20 leaves fresh basil, torn or coarsely chopped

    Preparation
Heat a deep pot or skillet over medium-low heat. Add olive oil, garlic and onion. Saute onions until soft and sweet, 8-10 minutes. Add crushed tomatoes and stock. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer, 5 minutes longer. Remove from heat and stir in basil. Serve soup with crusty bread.

  34. 1/3 cup minced yellow onion
    2 TBS butter or margarine
    2 TBS flour
    1/2 tsp basil
    1/2 tsp oregano
    1-1/4 tsp salt
    1/8 tsp pepper
    1 TBS tomato paste
    1 TBS light brown sugar
1 (10-1/2-oz.) can condensed beef consomme’
    1 cup milk
1 (1-lb 12 oz.) can of tomatoes (DO NOT DRAIN)

    Directions:
Stir-fry onion in butter in a large heavy saucepan 3-5 minutes until limp, blend in flour, herbs, salt and pepper, then stir in tomato paste, light brown sugar, consomme’, and milk, then heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and smooth. Put tomatoes through a food mill or puree’, a little at a time, in an electric blender at low speed; add to pan and simmer, uncovered, 12-15 minutes–DO NOT ALLOW TO BOIL. Ladle into soup bowls and serve piping hot.

Makes 6 servings. About 130 calories per serving.
This is the only recipe I could find. I don’t know if it tastes like Campbell’s or not, but I have been pretty happy with most of the recipe’s I’ve tried from this book. Good luck
