Question by Emmy Jo (13 weeks with #2): What is your favorite healthy salad recipe?
I have a friend coming over to cook dinner with me tonight. I wanted to make an interesting (vegetarian) salad to go along with the rest of our meal. Nothing super-complicated…just yummy!

Does anyone have a favorite salad recipe? And a recipe for the dressing to go along with it?

Thanks!

  1. OH SHI- GOLD COIN IN A NEST!!!!

  2. I quite liked this game. I kinda look at it as a step up from the classic text-based adventure games.

Come to think of it, cucumber and tomato do go pretty well together. In a sandwich with ham, spring onion and mayonnaise, that is!

  3. Hmm..Maybe I shall make a guide to this game..Have every level Memorized by now.

  4. Still one of my favorite games, and undrrated classic.

  12. Here are some of my favorite salad recipes:
    Cucumber Salad

Slice 2 peeled cucumbers. Slice thinly. Add 1 small sliced or chopped red onion. Cover with bottled red wine vinaigrette dressing. Salt and pepper to taste. Best if you let sit in refrigerator for at least an hour.

    Bacon Salad

    4 slices bacon
    1 lg bowl salad greens
    ½ chopped red onion
    Salt
    Pepper
    Red Wine Vinegar

In salad bowl, combine the salad and onion. Coat with ¼ cup red wine vinegar, salt and pepper. Chop bacon into little pieces. Cook until crispy. (You may need to add a little olive oil if bacon is very lean). Pour bacon and grease over salad.

    Southwestern Ranch Salad
    1 pkg. pre-cut salad mix
½ cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
    1 cup ranch flavored croutons
½ cup ranch flavored almond salad topping
    Hidden Valley Spicy Ranch dressing
    Salt and pepper to taste

Toss all ingredients together. Serve immediately.

    Caesar Coleslaw

    1 pkg pre-made coleslaw
    1/4-1/2 cup shredded parmesean cheese
    1/2 pkg caesar croutons
    1 bottle creamy caesar dressing

Toss first three ingredients together. Add enough dressing to coat. It’s even good the next day!

    Sesame Ranch Salad

    1 pkg. salad mix
    ½ cup toasted sesame seeds
    6 strips bacon, fried, crumbled
    ½ cup grated swiss cheese

Toss all ingredients together with creamy ranch salad dressing.

    Chinese salad

    Dressing Ingredients:
    2/3 cups oil
    1/2 cup sugar
    1/4 cup cider vinegar
    Ramen package flavoring

    Salad Ingredients:
    1 pkg. coleslaw mix
    1 bunch green onions (chopped)
    1/2 cup sesame seeds
    ½ cup sliced almonds
1 pkg. chicken ramen noodles (broken up, with seasoning)

Mix dressing ingredients. Refrigerate until you’re ready to serve. Toast sesame seeds, almonds, and ramen noodles in 350 oven until toasted. Mix salad ingredients. Add toasted ingredients, dressing and toss.

Variation: Use broccoli slaw in place of coleslaw. Omit sesame seeds and use 1 cup sunflower seeds and 1 cup slivered almonds.

    Hope you enjoy!
    Chris
