Question by Jess: How many ounces of canned tomatoes can I substitute for fresh tomatoes in this recipe?
The recipe calls for 3/4 cup fresh tomatoes. I have several cans of diced tomatoes that I would prefer to use. About how many ounces of diced tomatoes should I used in place of the 3/4 cup fresh tomatoes? I’m not sure if it would be 1 to 1 or not.

If it’s 3/4 cup of fresh tomatoes (which I’m sure must be cut up), then it would still be 3/4 cup of the diced tomatoes. So you are correct.. it would be 1 to 1. I’m sure an ingredient like that doesn’t have to be exact.

    yes! measure for measure whether the tomatoes are fresh diced or canned diced!! It doesn’t matter one way or the other what kind of tomatoes you use.
