Question by Alex: What starter/appetiser should I serve with a Lamb main course?
I need to prepare a starter to match with a slow cooked shoulder of lamb, for a dinner party. The main course will have a rich red wine & tomato sauce. I need to avoid a fish/seafood starter. Thank you

You need something slightly acidic. Thinly sliced beef tomatoes on a bed of rocket dressed with a balsamic syrup and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil. Crumble a good blue cheese on top (Stilton is my favourite). Not to much salt as the cheese is salty.

What do you think? Answer below!

  3. I live in Elwood IN, 46036 and worked at Red gold back in 2000. Wish I would of stayed there. Its less than a mile away. We never made the packets here though. just filled bottles and cans. I think that was done in geneva. but distributed just down the road from me 3 blocks away at the dist center

  4. Thank you :)

  9. A dip or a spread, something to do with cucumbers. go to allrecipes.com for a lot of good sounding cucumber recipes. This dip would be light, would go with your lamb, is easy to fix, and would go with your red sauce main dish.
    Ingredients
    4 ounces cream cheese, softened
    4 ounces sour cream
1/2 large cucumber, peeled and diced
    1 clove garlic, minced
    1/4 small onion, diced
    salt and pepper to taste
    Directions
1.In a medium bowl, stir together the cream cheese and sour cream. Mix in the cucumber, garlic, onion, salt and pepper. Refrigerate until ready to serve

Goat cheese or a hummus based dip or spread would be good, too.

  10. I would serve a light chicken liver pate with toast fingers and a green salad.

  11. if i were makin that decision i’d be thinkin bout whats in season and what the weathers like etc. theres endless possiblities really. maybe you could do a little antipasto type thing. perhaps pepporanata (coz its simple, tasty and looks good) a couple of scoops of dip, some good flat bread or something, some brie or fried haloumi or sumthin, perhaps some good quality salami or sumthin, some olives… whatever ya want.
thats just one idea though. up to you buddy

  12. How about a Ceasar salad…can’t go wrong!
