Question by zdf: What should I do with this tomato?
I have a jar of generic tomato pasta sauce, and an heirloom tomato to add to it. Should I cook the tomato before I add it to the sauce? And if so, how? Or is it ok to just cut it into chunks and throw it into the sauce and then heat it all up? Thank you!

Is it a big tomato? If so – forget the paste, chop the tomato and sizzle in a pan with oil, butter and a little garlic. Season with salt, pepper and a pinch of sugar. Add some chopped fresh basil and toss in some cooked spaghetti.

  2. You have to peel the tomato first. Get rid of as many of the seeds as you can. Chop it (no pre-cooking required) and throw it into the sauce. Let the sauce cook it.

  3. Skin the tomato, chunk it, and toss it into the sauce you make out of the paste. It will give the sauce a fresh flavor.

  4. pan fry some boned meats (veal, pork, beef) to seal in juices, then add to pot of paste and tomato, add basil, pepper, rosemary, simmer for 5 hours.

    best sauce ever!!!!!!!!

  5. I would boil it for 5 minutes and then take the skin off (it should peel right off) then throw it in the sauce.

  6. I would just chop in up the way it is and throw it in. It will cook down.
