Question by Suzy-Q: How to make HOMEMADE Campbells tomato soup using tomato paste or sauce?
I love the Campbells Tomato Soup, but want to make it from scratch so that it will be healthier. Does anyone have a recipe for how to make homemade tomato soup (just like Campbells) using tomato paste or sauce…I don’t want to use fresh tomatoes. Thanks!!!

substitute 1 cup tomato sauce plus 1/4 cup water.

    It definitly won’t taste the same. and tomato paste is a thickener, so don’t let that be your only ingredient along with water. I myself would say, your going to need real tomatoes. Cheers

  2. Cream of Tomato Soup
    “Old fashioned, easy to make creamy tomato soup that will warm your heart.”

    Ingredients:
    2 tablespoons butter
    1 onion, chopped
    2 tablespoons all-purpose flower
    1 quart tomato juice (for best results, puree fresh tomatoes)
    Salt to taste
    2 cups milk

    Directions:
    In a Dutch oven, over medium heat, sauté onions in butter until translucent. Remove from the heat. Stir in the flour so that no lumps remain, then slowly whisk in the tomato juice. Return to the heat and add salt to taste. Cook until just boiling but turn off the heat before it boils. Let cool 10 minutes then slowly stir in milk. Serve immediately.

    Quick Homemade Tomato Soup

    Ingredients
    2 tablespoons vegetable oil
    2 onions, chopped
    4 cloves garlic, minced
    1 (28 ounce) can stewed tomatoes
    3 cups chicken stock
    1/4 cup tomato paste
    1/4 teaspoon pepper
    Directions
    1in saucepan, heat oil over medium heat.
    2Cook onions and garlic until softened.
    3Add tomatoes, stock, tomato paste and pepper.
    4Bring to a boil.
    5Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes or until slightly thickened.
    6Using immersion blender or food processor, puree (optional).

  4. If you want healthier, heat up some V8 juice. It’s loaded with other veggies and it’s pretty good warmed up. Cheaper than Campbells too.
