  1. I’ve been watching all of these videos and am sold on this book. Time to get rid of the canned soup, boxed mac-n-cheese and get off the couch. I’ve been sick too often and am ready to reclaim my health!

  2. Promo, not recipe.

  3. If you are trying something new, don’t if you are having company. Try this when you are alone. But my opinion is Campbell’s Tomato Soup is in a class of its own and I would not substitute this for any store brand. I have been cooking for 55 years and Campbell’s has never failed me.

  4. Condensed tomato soup is all the same whether it’s a store brand, Campbells or any other.

Use Manwich for sloppy joes and either use a good low fat hamburger or drain the fat off the hamburger really well. It just grosses me out when people serve me sloppy joes with a thick layer of grease on top. Yuk!!

  5. Any canned soup that requires extra liquid (water, milk etc) is technically a condensed soup. So Campbells or Heinz soups are condensed.

Dry packet soups however are a dehydrated product and not the same.

  6. Here is one for you to try next time…

    HOMEMADE SLOPPY JOE SEASONING MIX

    1 tablespoon instant minced onion
    1 teaspoon salt
    1/2 teaspoon instant minced garlic
    1/4 teaspoon celery seed
    1 teaspoon green pepper flakes
    1 teaspoon cornstarch
    1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
    1/4 teaspoon chili powder

Combine all ingredients in a small bowl until well blended. Spoon mixture onto a 6-inch square of aluminum foil and fold to make airtight. Label as Sloppy Joe Seasoning Mix. Store in a cool, dry place and use within 6 months.

Makes 1 package (about 3 tbsp) of mix

    TO MAKE SLOPPY JOES:
    1 lb lean ground beef
1 pkg (about 3 tbsp) Sloppy Joe Seasoning Mix
    1/2 cup water
1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
    toasted hamburger buns

Brown ground beef in a medium skillet over medium-high heat. Drain excess grease.

Add seasoning mix, 1/2 cup water, and tomato sauce; bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    Serve over toasted hamburger buns.
