  1. Wonderfully interesting comments.
Thanks so much: they add a lot.
Muffaletta here refers to the filling, now emblematic of New Orleans.
    Enjoy!

  2. FYI. The original Muffeletta started in Morocco and till today is favorite “dessert” very sweet recipe which look like crapes. I guess like many recipes from North Africa and the Middle East the “Mufletta” moved across the sea to Southern Italy and then had a fusion and continued to the US and then again went through one or two more face/inner lift.
At the same time many Jewish Moroccan Immigrant who moved to Israel brought this Original Recipe to Israel and this 1 has nothing to do with Health

  3. yummy! looks good I’ll try it :-)

  4. This is not a muffaletta, by any stretch. Please call it what it is: a pita wrap.

  5. Cut tomtoes up.
    Put them in the sun.

  6. 1.Cut tomatoes into peices.Add little salt.
    2. Squeeze the tomatoes and keep the juice.
    3. Keep tomatoespeices and juice in the sun.
    4. In the night keep the tomato peices in the juice.
    5. Next day again squeeze the tomatoes peices and dry.
    6. Repeat the process until the tomatoes are fully dry.

  7. cut tomatoes in desired shapes, cover bottom of pan with salt and put in oven at the lowest setting over night.

  8. Technically they aren’t sun dried, but I have made them in a dehydrator. Cut the tomatoes into medium slices or however you want them. The thinner pieces dry faster. If you are doing half Roma tomatoes, make sure and slice a thin (mostly just peel) slice from the not cut side so it can dry out. Use your finger or a plastic spoon to scoop out the ‘jelly’ part with the seeds in it. Pat with a paper towel and put in the dehydrator until they are leathery. Flip them every couple hours so they don’t stick.

  9. i’ve used an electric dehydrator. it works great!
