Add cream and sugar until it’s the right consistency and taste you don’t need much of either though

  1. Add tomato juice or stewed tomatoes

  2. Water it down to the right consistency. Add a couple pinches of sugar and a little salt. It won’t be exactly the same, but you might not be able to tell depending on what you’re making.

  3. for one can of paste add 3 cans of water and stir to get a sauce.
then you can move onto making any kind of “spaghetti sauce” adding herbs, spices etc.

  4. These people who answered above cannot cook to save their lives.

For every two cans of 28 ounce crushed tomatoes add one can of paste.

Saute chopped onion with olive oil in a heavy bottomed sauce pot. Add 2 cloves crushed garlic. Saute’ until translucent. Add tomato paste, saute’ a minute or two more. Add two cans of tomatoes. Simmer one to two hours for marinara. Last half hour add chopped fresh basil, and 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano. Taste sauce, if too sour add a teaspoon of sugar.

If you want meat sauce, brown in oil homemade meatballs, country ribs, italian sausages, and add to pot after you added the tomatoes. Skim fat from top of sauce.

Serve on spaghetti or any pasta of your choice.

Learned to make this from my Italian mother.

Freeze leftover sauce. The high acidity in the sauce allows the sauce to freeze well.

  5. 1. Mix together one part tomato paste and one part water until well blended.
    2. Season to taste.

Tomato paste has no seasoning added to it…it is tomatoes only. Adding equal amounts of paste and water will give you the same consistency and flavor of tomato sauce.

This is a recipe for canning your own tomato sauce…as you can see the added ingredients are not enough to make a big difference in your recipe.
