Question by LISA: 1 can of crushed Tomatoes verses how many fresh grown Tomatoes?
I have a wonder Tomato Basil recipe that calls for 1 can of crushed tomatoes. Well, I have grown tomatoes in my backyard. How many would I need to use instead of the can and how would I prepare them before making the soup.

use about 6-7 big tomatoes
drop them in boiling water for 2 minutes to help remove skin then let cool pell them and crush up with your hands keeping all juice. strain out all the seeds

  1. About 8, yes boiled first but longer than 2 minutes. More like 20 minutes. Stick a fork in them (like a potato) for doneness.

    Drain and cut in half, sqeeze them and it should come out like canned tomatoes.

    Either that or just stick in blender and Wallah!
