I found this website BUT what I normally do is cook meat then pour sauce i put parsley tons of garlic powder onion powder because I am onion intolerant. i pour the juice out of the diced tomatoes unless you have tomato paste to thicken it.

  9. Combine two cans of tomato sauce with one can UNDRAINED diced tomatoes. Season heavily with parsley, oregano, thyme, and basil. These are your key Italian herbs. Saute fresh garlic and onions in a separate pan if you have it, about 1 tablespoon of garlic and half an onion then add this to your sauce. If not, powdered of both will do– a tablespoon of each. Bring your sauce to a boil, stirring frequently, then reduce heat and simmer for about 30 minutes to allow the herbs to flavor the sauce nicely. Add a couple shakes of black pepper. NO SALT unless your canned tomato sauce is salt free. These cans typically have LOADS of salt in them. If you’ve got ground beef, cook this and drain, then add it into your sauce. Meatballs will do well, too. But the meat is not required if you don’t have it.

I also like to add in sauteed mushrooms to mine… om nom nom nom!
