Question by Mommy Dearest: What can I add to my tomato soup to spice it up?
I am not too fond of Tomato soup, but I figure that if I add other flavors / spices to it, I might actually enjoy it.

if you want a mild spice try adding a bit of basil or oregano for an Italian flair
or if you want to spice it up add a spoonful of salsa or chili powder.

I like the soup with some basil then I make a grilled cheese and put oregano on the inside of the sandwich (maybe try one with provolone instead too) then dip it into the soup. YUM!

  1. i put luwesean on mine and i love it it’s not spelled wright but you know what i mean

  2. I think 2 teaspoons of lemon juice and about 3 or 4 drops of Tabasco Sauce should do it

  3. basil and mozzarella cheese!!! So good! Also you can add any kind of hot sauce. Pretty much everyone knows about tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches, but you gotta use a good cheese not that crappy american stuff. Try adding pepperoni, or even cooked hamburger meat and some beans, like a simpler version of chili. There is a lot of stuff to do with tomato soup. I just love that stuff.

  4. I love tomato soup with rice! I make it with milk instead of water, and stir in a little bit of leftover cooked rice. (Or make just a little rice just for this purpose)

It’s not overly spicy, but sooo satisfying!

I suppose you could add a little bit of oregano, or a dash of Worcestershire sauce to liven up the taste, just don’t overdo it!

  5. Louisiana Hot Sauce and some Red Pepper Flakes

  6. 1. Salt and Pepper

    2. Parmesan Cheese

    3. French Fried Onions (buy in a can at grocery)

Now you are talking some goooooood soup!

  7. You can make an Italian Wedding Soup or just throw in some salsa. The Italian Wedding Soup can be frozen vegetables(I use Europe’s Best- I love them all because they are chopped perfectly and bright color so whatever you put them in they look good and taste fresh.) Leftover cheese, stale and dry is great, powdered Parmesan great too, just no strong flavors like romano or blue cheese or carmalized onion cheese. Leftover or instant noodles or leftover rice. Meat – can be cooked ground beef, cooked chicken, or a few shrimps allowed to cook in mixture. Just heat it through, add ground pepper and salt and you’ve got it!!!!
