It depends on several things. Type of tomato, weather conditions, soil, water and fertilizer all affect the time it takes tomatoes to grow. We have had ours now for about a month and one plant is loaded with tomatoes, the others are getting tomatoes and several blossoms.

Try using Miracle Grow when you water. Make sure you use the one for vegetables.

  1. Usually, the first tomatoes ripen in July. Cherry tomatoes are the first, with the regular eating tomatoes in late July or early August. But that depends on where you live, too.

Look for little yellow flowers. That’s the first part. Then, if the night temperatures are right for fruit set, you may soon after see tiny green tomatoes, which will grow into big red tomatoes.

  2. That depends on many factors like variety, conditions etc. You won’t see fruit until you see your plants flower first. Once they flower, you will see “baby” tomatoes in no time. Mine started flowering 2 weeks ago and I just started seeing fruit a few days ago.
